Someone

May I present a person we all know named "Someone"?

Someone is the person who will pick up a fallen box of cereal blocking shoppers in the cereal aisle of Publix. Twenty people will rush on by with other important missions. However, Someone will realize the box belongs in its rightful place so he/she puts it back on the shelf without a second thought.

Someone hears a lady on a cell phone crying with her car idling in the parking lot and listens. Someone listens not to be nosy but because the window is cracked open slightly and Someone realizes it is God's providence that she was here at this time and place to help. Someone waits patiently until the sobbing woman hangs up then walks over gently so as not to scare her. With her head in her hands she sobs as Someone taps lightly on the glass and offers her listening ear and willingness to pray.

Someone knelt down in the middle of the road and lifted the sick man onto his shoulders. Even though he was not supposed to be there in that dangerous town Someone knew it was the right thing to do to help the stranger. Someone knew he had to do this as so many passed by the sick man without so much as a glance. (Luke 10:30-37)

Someone removes dead animals from the side of the road. She gets up quite early and canvases the roads near her home. Someone hopes to find some animals that are still alive so they may be healed and have a second chance at life. She finds forever homes for each and every creature she saves.

Someone decided to do this the day she saw the beautiful black and white cat dead on the road for an entire day. That cat had frolicked in her front yard the previous day. She smiled long after the kitty left that day. Her heart would never be the same celebrating life just hours before only to see that same life snuffed away and ignored on the side of the road. She made giving dignity to animals in life and in death one of the many callings in her life.

By now you all hopefully realize Someone is the human doing and not just a human being. These "Someone"s often go unnoticed or unappreciated and often truly nameless!! But our Father in Heaven knows, sees and smiles (Psalm 139, Zephaniah 3:17) as He knows their name.

Another aspect of Someone is our attitude. "Someone else will do it", "That is Someone else's job", "Someone has to care," and the comments go on and on.

I don't know about you, but I want to be that Someone that arrives in Heaven and is presented a white rock and five crowns Revelation 9:12 . I want to be the Someone whom the Lord tells, "Well done my good and faithful servant."

Is your name Someone? Very well then! Go and discern that special Someone who needs help. Be the Someone that snatches them out of the fire (Jude). Someone is waiting....

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5
